Philadelphia, May 17, 1764.  Proposals for printing by
subscription, the poetical works of the late Mr. Thomas
Godfrey, of this place.  Compiled from original manuscripts,
and properly digested.  This work will consist of 1. some
account of the author,and his detached writings.  2. poems
on various subjects, including those detached pieces that
are already in print, and several new performances.  3. The
Prince of Parthia, a tragedy; revised and corrected.  A
Table of Contents, and a list of the subscribers, will be

If in the wild a pleasing spot we must
In happier times some humble swain's retreat;
Where once with joy he saw the grateful soil
Yield a luxuriant harvest to his toil:
Blest with content, he lov'd the solitude,
And knew his pleasures, tho' of manners rude.
